Jim writes….
An intrepid few made it to Sunday’s Canterbury 10 miler (Ian, Ken F, Debbie F, Steve F, Jim A) and were rewarded with a beautifully sunny day and some great countryside for those of you who remember it as last year’s grand prix. As always, to see the countryside you have to do some hills and it was very, very cold which might be good for the heart rate but not for the extremities.
Out of a larger field than last year that probably topped the 1000 mark, there were good performances from all but a few near misses all round. Mel was first up just missing the race (something about barefoot/calfs/treadmills) and surely would have taken the women’s prizes as the Vets 35 was won in 66 and i’m not sure the top 3 women were any quicker than that. Ken nearly repeated his Benfleet heroics and came in second in the v60 category in 1:09:13. Jim missed out on bling coming in 4th but hardly a near miss as he was 1m 37s behind 3rd place who was out of sight after 5 miles – but in 56.36 it was a pb by 47s.
4th Jim Addison 56:36
116 Ken Fancett 1:09:13
425 Steve Ferrah 1:21:33
520 Ian McCarthy 1:25:56
615 Debroah Ford 1:29:54
